Best in color: Nudes & Neutrals

I thought I'd start a new "series" featuring my favorite beauty products of different color!. To start it off simple, I thought I'd go with Nudes & Neutrals! These are my favorite neutral colors that aren't as bold and that are easy to wear.

I love the Naked 2 palette! If you're going to splurge on 1 high end item, I would definitely go with one of the Naked palettes! These shades are gorgeous and super versatile for every-day wear!

NYX also carries some great shadows. I love this trio in Ultra Chic. There are 3 neutrals cream shades, I prefer the two shades to the right. The matte white/cream shade on the far right is perfect for a highlight in the inner corner & brow bone.

This blush by elf in Tickled Pink is a perfect neutral, peach shade that just adds a touch of color!

This color tattoo is Barely Branded used to be my absolute favorite product until it dried up! I still need to repurchase it! it's the perfect champagne cream shadow that will work with any skin tone or age!

Any brown liner is going to be a lot less harsh than black. This cream liner by elf is so creamy and creates a neutral wing!

Another cream shadow (this one by Benefit in Birthday Suit)! This is a gorgeous brown taupe shade perfect for a slight wash of a deeper tone on the lids.

This Champagne shadow by Sally girl is a beautiful highlight! It's so pigmented and lasts all day!

IF you're looking for a lighter, nude lip shade, the Peach Kiss Baby Lips is perfect! It moisturizes, smells great, and adds the perfect amount of color!

If you want a bit of a darker shade, Wet n Wild's lipstick in Bare it All is the one! I can't say enough good things about this!

And last but not least, my favorite lip gloss, Mocha Freeze by Too Faced. This is so smooth and not at all sticky. The color is phenomenal and looks good with any eye look!

Urban Decay NAKED 2 Palette ~ Review & Swatches!

Hello everyone!

I have been waiting to post my review on the NAKED 2 palette for what feels like ages! I received this for my birthday and have been using it ever since. After years of wanting it I finally have it! Out of the 3 NAKED palettes, this was the one that appealed to me the most. The taupe-hued shades really stood out to me and are great neutrals for everyday. This palette is so versatile and can create numerous eye looks from bare to smokey.

Anyways, on with the review!

The palette came with a primer potion set containing 4 different eye primer samples. I was excited to see this because I have been wanting to try out Urban Decay's primer potion shades for a while now! I've been trying these out and they really do help shadow stay vibrant and last all day.

The samples are actually fairly large! It says they will last around a week, but I've been using Eden for nearly 3 weeks now and I still have lots left. A little goes a long way with this!

The packaging is almost like a tin case and it's very sturdy and good quality. The design is very simple and sleek and I really think it suits the palette. 

The NAKED 2 palette costs $64 CA and $54 US on Sephora.com. 

The palette inside is spectacular! There are 12 taupe-hued neutrals (as the UD website states) which are all very unique. A few of my favorite shades are FOXY, BOOTY CALL, VERVE, AND BUSTED.

My go-to look recently has been FOXY on the inner corner and brow-bone, BOOTY CALL and VERVE all over the lid, and a mixture of browns such as BUSTED and SNAKEBITE in the crease.

The palette has a great selection of shades from very light shades to extremely deep shades. There are 3 mattes in the palette which are great shadows to have. I really love shimmer so this palette is perfect for me!

The shadows have amazing pigmentation! However a few of the shadows don't show up as pigmented on the eyes as they do swatched. They're so smooth and velvety and they blend so easily. The shadows create the most stunning eye-makeup looks that last all day. All of the shades in the palette correspond with each other creating opportunity for endless looks. It's perfect for day or night!

It also comes with a dual-ended makeup brush which is another great bonus to this palette! The brush is a fairly good quality brush with a side great for packing on color and a side perfect for blending. The bristles are very soft and they blend the shadows effortlessly.

The swatches are so buttery (funny but accurate chose of words!) and smooth!

OVERALL:

Pigmentation: 9/10

Lasting Power (with primer): 10/10

Lasting Power (without primer): 9/10

Blend-ability: 10/10

Packaging: 10/10

Price: 7/10 Pricey but almost average for high-end palettes.

Downside: Some shadows aren't as pigmented and some shadows lose pigmentation with light blending.

Would I repurchase?: Probably, if I ever run out

Would I recommend?: Definitively!
Overall: 9/10!

Revlon Photoready Palette ~ Review

I've been reviewing some of the Birthday gifts I received (and loving them!), lately and I've got another one today! A friend gifted me this Revlon eyeshadow palette (along with a few other things) and I've been loving it since! It has a perfect range of neutrals and it's great! 

Each shadow has a different purpose which is very unique. The bottom two are a primer and a glitter top coast. The top three are a base, crease, and brow bone color.

The shade of the palette is "Impressionist" 

The primer, base, and crease colors are the most pigmented of them all. The glitter top coat is a little chalky but it adds a nice sparkle and the brow bone color is just a bit sheer. 

These colors blend very easily. The aren't the most pigmented I've tried but they do create very nice looks. They're great shades for everyday wear and they look very natural. They are all shimmery which I love!

OVERALL:

Pigmentation: 7/10

Price: N/A

Blend-ability: 9/10

Lasting power: They stay well with primer but crease throughout the day w/o it.

Would I repurchase?: Yes in different colors!

Would I recommend?: For sure, especially for beginners!

NYX Bohème Chic Palette

I picked up this palette a while ago from Target on major clearance. It was originally $18, but it was on clearance for $5.99! There were many other NYX palettes, but this was the one that appealed most to me.

It contains 24 eyeshadows and 2 blushes. There are 18 Neutral shade in the top compartment and 6 earthy, bohemian tones in the bottom compartment  A few of the shadows at the bottom actually have quite some shimmer.

The packaging is very sleek and totally looks high end. 

It has a large mirror which is great for doing your makeup in. 

It has a variety of shades from pink tones, to browns, and even a green tone. 

The bottom slides out the reveal the blushes, eyeshadows, and applicators.

I really like the blush colors they selected for this palette. They are very different from each other and they're completely matte. The shadows have a very unique shape They're in between a square and a circle.

The shadows are 0.04 oz or 1.2 g. The blushes are 0.13 oz or 3.8 g.

 Here's just a few random swatches to show to pigmentation. Some shadows are more pigmented than the others. Over all, I expected more from these shadows. They show up faintly on your eyelid although you can build up the color. Some of the lighter colors hardly show up at all, but some of the darker colors such as the dark brown in the photo are very pigmented!

If you're looking for some good quality, matte shadows, I wouldn't recommend this as a first choice but it is a more affordable option. 

I like the variety of neutral shades in the palette but I don't find myself reaching for this often.

Benefit World Famous Neutrals-Most Glamorous Nudes Ever

Hey! So today I'm doing a review on one of my new favorite things, the Benefit World Famous Neutrals set!
I've been using it for about a month now and I've really been loving it. It's really convenient in the sense that you can create numerous eye looks with one palette! I'm really like it and I'd love to try the others shades!

It's quite a bulky palette which takes up a lot of extra space, although I think the packaging is really cute.

It comes with 4, 0.04 oz long-wearing powder shadows is call my buff, kiss me, i'm tipsy, it's complicated, and gilt-y pleasure, as well as 2, 0.11 oz creaseless cream shadows in birthday suit and my two cents.

It also has a good sized mirror and 2 tutorials.

I was SO impressed with the quality of these shadows. I had never tried Benefit's shadows before and I was so surprised when I first swatched them. The cream shadows went on so smoothly and felt so velvety! The pigmentation was also amazing! The cream shadows lasted all day with absolutely no creasing, which is saying something because ALL of my eyeshadows crease on me.
As for the powder shadows, I fell in love with those too. They went on really smooth and had great pigmentation. They blend so effortlessly to create a gorgeous look. I can't say enough good things about them. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this product other than the bulkiness of the packaging which I can deal with.
I would definitely try out more Benefit eyeshadows in the future. I'm so thankful for receiving this as a gift on Christmas!
