Beauty Tip: Perfect brows in 1/2 the time

I haven't done a Beauty Tip in quite a while and I figured it was long overdue! I've recently come up with a new way of doing my brows and I really enjoy it. I thought I'd share since it has saved me a little bit of time in getting ready. It's a super simple tip but I thought I'd share it anyways!

Instead of applying a tinted brow gel or creamy brow product and then applying a powder to set it, apply it all in 1 step! I like to dip my angled brush in the left side of the e.l.f. brow kit (tinted wax) and then dip it into my favorite eyeshadow shade for brows. This makes the brows more defined than just using  a powder but less harsh than using a wax and a powder separately.

Left: Just brow powder
Center: Just tinted wax
Right: Both mixed together

I hope this was helpful, enjoy your morning/day/night!

(Updated) Eyebrow Routine!

I feel like I haven't been on my blog for so long! A lot of my recent posts were scheduled since I knew I had a bit of a busy patch. I have a lot of free time now so I'm back on my blog! I recently got my eyebrows done, a couple of weeks ago, and I switched up my brow routine. I thought I'd share it since it is completely different than my last brow routine. I use all drugstore produtcs, but hopefully in the future, I can experiment with some higher end options.
Enjoy!

On most days that I wear makeup, I like to use the e.l.f. Eyebrow Kit in medium. The color goes really well with my hair color and I really love the product. I use the angled brush it come with, since the thinness of the brush gives me a lot of precision.
First I outline the top of my brow, creating a straight line with the left, darker brow gel. Then I follow my brow shape and fill them in lightly also with the brow gel. After, I use the lighter powder, with the fluffy side of the brush, to set the color.

After filling them in, I find they look much too harsh so I comb through them a bit with a spooley brush. This blends the color and decreases the intensity. I find this step is essential for me!

To keep the color and shape in place, I set my eyebrows with e.l.f.'s clear brow gel. It's only $1 and it keeps them in place all day long!

If I don't feel like filling my brows in and everything, I'll use Maybelline's brow drama. It's a tinted gel that sets them in place, and adds a bit of color. It's great to use when I'm in a rush.

I'm not very good at taking pictures of my eyes or eyebrows but here's a few pictures to show the basic shape.

I hope this was helpful and that pretty much sums up my current brow routine.

Maybelline Brow Drama ~ Review

So recently I posted a "new at the drugstore" and I included the new Brow drama by Maybelline. I've had the time to try it out and today I'm reviewing it! I found it at Walmart for $9.99 and there were 3 shades.

It came in dark brown, blonde and soft brown. I chose soft brown and I find that it matches my medium brown hair perfectly!

The packaging is extremely similar to their great lash mascaras except the Brow drama has a sleek black tube.

This is the first product of it's type that I've seen at the drugstore. It reminds me of Benefit's Gimme Brow, although I've never tried that.  The wand it straight with a round ball at the tip.

The tinted brow gel is easily brushed through the brows and after a few strokes, my brows were noticeably darker and less sparse. This products gives the brows a natural look while still slightly filling them in. Not only does this fill in your brows, it also sets them in place and lasts all day.

OVERALL:
Packaging: 8/10
Lasting power: 10/10
Color payoff: 8.5/10 natural
Price: 9/10
Would I repurchase?: Yes!
Would I recommend?: For sure!
Overall rating: 9/10

I hope this review was helpful!

Brows! Brows! Brows!

I've really been into brows lately even though I know mine aren't the best! I didn't used to do much with them but I've been trying some different ways of filling them in. My eyebrows aren't very full & they don't have the best shape but I try to work around it! Here's how I fill in my brows and some other brow tips I love!

Filling them in
So first I'll start with my basic, daily brow routine. I start by combing them through with a little spooley brush. Once they're in the shape I like, I lightly fill them in with NYC's brow pencil in dark brown. I only fill in the sparse spots and I lightly shape the inner corner of them since it's very sparse there.  To finish them off, I set them with the elf wet gloss lash & brow mascara. This holds the shape and tames any crazy hairs!

If I want to get a bit more dramatic, I'll fill them in with the elf brow kit. Starting with wax/gel, I shape my brows a bit and fill them in. Then I top it with the powder and set it again with brow gel.

Shaping them
For shaping my brows, I try to pluck as little as possible. I've only gotten them waxed once but I may get them waxed again at some point. I start by plucking any obvious hairs that don't interfere with the shape of the brow. If there are any hairs close to the shape I leave them. I pluck my brows about every 1-2 weeks or when I notice they need doing.

Making them last
My favorite way to make them last is brow gel, as I said! But if you don't have brow gel hairspray works just fine! All you do is spray a spooley brush with a bit of hairspray and brush through your brows. I used to do this all the time before I found the elf brow gel!

Natural look
When I'm doing natural makeup, I don't want bold brows, to make my brows a little lighter I use much lighter stroke with the brow pencil and I don't try the shape the inner corner. Another method that look natural is powder. Check out my last  Brow Routine for more tips!

That's all! I hope this was somewhat helpful! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Elf eyebrow kit ~ medium

As you may have noticed, I've been playing around with my blog layout and design and such. I felt it was time for a change while I had the time. I really like it at the moment but I'm not 100% sure if it will be permanent. Let me know if you like it! Anyways, today I'm reviewing the Elf Eyebrow Kit. I have wanted to try this for the longest time and I finally got the chance. I actually ended up ordering it online from a site that sold elf, but they ran out so I cancelled my order. I picked it up at Target for only $3!

I really like the packaging of compacts in Elf's studio line. They're very sleek, thin and simple.

The photo below shows the true color better than the photo above. On the left there is a darker, tinted gel and on the right, is a lighter powder to set. I take the gel and lightly go through the sparse areas of my brows then set it all with a bit of the powder. I've really been loving it and using it daily!

You can create bold and dramatic looks with this or light and natural. It's fun to play around with and it makes it really easy to shape your brows. It lasts fairly well and even better with a brow gel.

I've got the shade medium, and I kinda just guessed. It turned out to match perfectly since the gel isn't as dark as I expected!

It also comes with a brush which I've actually put to use. It's difficult to use because of the size but it's actually not half bad.

Price: 10/10 super affordable!
Color payoff: 9/10
Color selection: 8/10 there's only 4 colors but they all seem fairly versatile
Lasting power: 8/10
Blendability: 9/10
Packaging: 10/10
Would I repurchase?: Yes!
Would I recommend?: Definitely
Overall: 9/10 great product!

If you see this I would suggest trying it out! What's there to lose?
I hope you enjoyed this review, thanks!

My brow routine!

I'd like to start off by apologizing for not posting on many new and high-end products. I've been trying to not buy makeup products unless I need them for a few months. It's really tough because I see new products around every corner. In I few months time I will be sure to have more recent reviews and posts. =) On with my eyebrow routine!
I personally think I have a pretty low maintenance eyebrow routine. I only use 4 tools and products and it takes me little to no time to do them.
I recently got my eyebrows waxed for the first time and it exposed me to a whole new section of makeup; the brow section. Now I can't leave the house without filling in my eyebrows.
First I pluck them. I don't do this often, usually only every 3-4 days and sometimes only once a week. I don't plan on getting them waxed too often because I find it easier (and cheaper) to just pluck the stray hairs myself.
The tweezers I use are just pointed ones from Revlon. I don't actually remember where these are from or how much the cost but they're most-likely under $10 at the drugstore.they do a pretty decent job and are easy to use. (excuse my chipped nail polish)
I fill in my eyebrows using this angled eyeliner brush from Quo and brush them into place using a mascara wand sample from Sephora which works just fine for me. It's just a free sample wand used to try on mascara at Sephora!
To fill in my brows, I use Mac's eyeshadow in omega. I heard that you are supposed to use a shade or two lighter than your natural brow color so this works well for me. (it's a little messy).
bye!
